That was close… but never in doubt. Congratulations to Team USA Basketball and our NBA crew of Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala and James Harden for taking the gold over Spain in Olympic Men's Basketball. Durant put on another MVP performance in the final, scoring a game-high 30 points, while Harden sealed the win at the end. Until the game was over, we had no idea the smooth shooting Durant had racked up the most points by a Team USA player in an Olympics (156) and set a record for 3-pointers (34). And his 30 points against Spain? Just the most scored ever by an American in the gold medal game.
Congrats, too, to all the Team USA Olympians. The women's bball team dominated – no, crushed – their opponents for their fifth straight gold medal win. Equally crushing were the US women sprinters on the track.
We admit that we watched swimming just to see what Olympics wonder-man, Michael Phelps, would do. But the entire USA swim team was amazing in winning 31 medals – more than half of them gold.
BMX returned for a second time to the Olympics, with one whacked-out course that looked like a Super Mario track. No US winners but it was just plain fun to watch.
Great games London.
